LCS Foundation was created to develop future leaders of the senior housing and care profession; support Alzheimer’s care and research initiatives; provide financial relief for personnel during crisis situations; and to perpetuate the Foundation’s mission through strong governance and ongoing contributions.

A key pillar of the LCS Foundation is supporting Alzheimer’s care and research through fundraising and supporting organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association. This is all in an effort to find the first survivor of Alzheimer’s.
In this episode we discuss the 2019 LCS Alzheimer’s Association fundraising campaign. We’re joined by Bridgette Uhlemann, Director of Corporate Legal Affairs for LCS and Chair of the LCS Walk to End Alzheimer’s Committee. Bridgette is also a Board Member of the Alzheimer’s Association, Iowa Chapter; Julie Bissonnette, Executive Director at Newcastle Place and also the Fundraising Chair for our Investment Life Plan Communities; Rachel Torres, Admissions & Marketing Director at Park Vista Health Center and Christy Stemm, Director of Assisted Living and Memory Care at Newcastle Place.
Our guests shared updates on both corporate and community educational strategies, engagement initiatives and fundraising efforts.

We discuss another of the pillars of the LCS Foundation; the Senior Care & Housing, Professional Development Pillar. Specifically, we focus on the LCS Foundation’s recent endowment of $100,000 to Georgetown University that will go towards their graduate program in Senior Living Administration.
We’re joined by Tom Mathisen, VP/Director of Investments for LCS and LCS Foundation Professional Development Committee Member; Pam Saunders, Associate Professor and Director of the Aging & Health program at Georgetown University; and Andrew Carle, Adjunct Faculty at Georgetown University also focused on the Senior Living Administration, Master’s in Aging & Health Program. Andy is also the Executive Director at The Virginian, an LCS communities in Fairfax, Virginia.

The LCS Foundation’s Emergency Relief Fund supports our dedicated and compassionate colleagues when encountering an emergency or crisis situation beyond their control. It’s one of the primary pillars of the LCS Foundation and we discuss the area with a few special guests.
Elisa Baptiste, SVP/Chief Operating Officer of CPS and LCS Foundation Board Member provides an overview of the fund, along with its importance as it relates to the mission of the LCS Foundation. Zane Bennett, Executive Director at Plantation Village, an LCS Managed Community in Wilmington, NC; Patrick Noonan, Executive Director at The Glenview at Pelican Bay, an LCS Managed Community in Naples, FL; and Angela Koplin, Human Resources Director at The Glenview at Pelican Bay share their community stories and how their employees were positively impacted by the Emergency Relief Fund.
